Which flag fits
your vessel?
Polska Marine’s comparison of the Polish and Langkawi flags, from our registration guide.
| Consideration | Poland | Langkawi |
|---|---|---|
| Recognition in Asia | A Polish ensign stands out. You’re seen as an international yacht, under EU prestige. Marinas and officials often give extra courtesy | Common in Asia, but seen as a “cheap flag.” Some ports double-check documents more thoroughly |
| Paperwork | EU registry means smoother clearance and credibility. European legal backup adds weight | Accepted locally, but more red tape in foreign ports |
| Lifetime | For life — no renewals | Must be renewed regularly to remain valid |
| Cost | One time payment | Ongoing renewals add up over time |
| Registration time | Provisional registration in about a week | Can take months before approval comes through |
| Requirements | No survey or insurance required | Survey and insurance usually required |
| Global standing | EU credibility gives you recognition across Asia and beyond. Future-proof if you expand your cruising grounds | Works fine regionally but loses weight internationally. |
| Prestige factor | You’re under the EU umbrella, even while cruising Asia. A status symbol that makes you stand out | Useful regionally, but not prestigious. You blend in with budget registries |

Your questions, answered Frequently asked
questions.
Can I register without an account?
Yes. Choose Flag my boat and complete the application as a guest. We ask for your contact email so our team can follow up. Keep your application reference and use the same browser to return to your application.
What if I do not have a vessel or engine detail?
Select Not available beside the relevant field or document. Our team will review what is missing and explain what is needed. This lets you start an enquiry; it does not waive the registry’s requirements. Owner identity and company documents, where applicable, are still required.
Can a company own the vessel?
Yes. Polska Marine supports individual and company registration. For a company application, include the company registration certificate, such as ACRA documentation.
How long does registration take?
We strive for registration within seven days with a complete file. This is a target, not a guarantee. Missing documents, clarifications and delays at the Reja24 registration offices can affect timing, and authority delays are beyond our control.
Does registration cover every permission to operate?
Flag registration establishes the vessel’s registration. Safety, commercial use, insurance, taxes and local operating permissions need to be considered separately for your vessel and intended waters. Contact our team to discuss your situation.
What if registration does not go through?
If the registry confirms that it cannot register your vessel, we refund the full amount paid to us for the application, including GST and any MMSI fee, within 30 days after we receive that confirmation. Contact info@polskamarine.sg with your application reference. A processing delay alone does not trigger this refund.
How do I receive my registration card?
Once we confirm that your card has arrived, you are responsible for collecting it or arranging collection or delivery with Polska Marine. Contact us to agree the arrangements.
How do I check conflicting advice about registration?
Ask for the registry requirement behind the advice, and compare it with the authority’s published information. With over 350 registrations in Singapore, our team can explain the process and help you check what applies to your vessel.
